5 Things I Want to Wear From Paris: Part 3

Fashion month usually brings over-the-top looks and accessories designed with editorials in mind. But we always have to ask ourselves: What would we want to wear? Throughout Milan and Paris fashion weeks, the Cut brings you editors’ picks, rounding up items from the runways we’d actually buy.

1. There was just so much to be desired at Céline: puff-shouldered dresses, exaggerated scoop-neck tops, fantastic shoes. The best is when Phoebe Philo sends out a look that’s completely made up of of perfect pieces, like this deconstructed splice trench, ivory wide-leg cropped pants, and great leather boots that graze the ankle bone and are profiled by big, cool studs.

2. Sarah Burton’s ruffly and feathery gowns for Alexander McQueen were unarguably beautiful, but her trousers would elevate anyone’s separates wardrobe. In intricate embellished denim or embroidered ivory looks, they were cool yet elegant. I loved this embroidered coat and cuffed pant, which looked like a cropped jacket with an overskirt from the front. It resembled something from another era but was thoroughly modern.

3. Pastels were moodier than one expects at Haider Ackermann, and I especially liked a languid sea-foam silk dress with a peek of a black slip underneath. Pairing it with rock-and-roll zebra ankle boots kept the look from being too safe.

4. A vibrant scarlet super-deep V-neck dress, both shimmering and textured and in the exact color of a great lipstick, stood out at Akris. Bonus points for coordinating the dress with a very comfortable lace-up shoe.

5. Stripes were huge in Milan and are gearing up to be big here in Paris, too (see: Dior). I liked the vertical stripes at Maison Rabih Kayrouz. The long sundresses in bold, pretty colors seemed to make the models look even taller and slimmer than they already were.
