Following hot on the heels of boxing gloves and surfboards, beanbags are the latest thing to get the sleek and sexy Alexander Wang treatment, as part of a capsule furniture collection he designed for Italian brand Poltrona Frau. “It’s banal, an everyday item,” the designer tells WSJ. Magazine of everyone’s favorite dorm-décor staple, which he has reimagined in both shearling and leather. “We always had them in the TV room. But I like to re-contextualize what is banal, what is luxurious. To make it with Poltrona, that just completely changes it. And yet at the end of the day, it’s still a beanbag chair. I love that.” Now, when is he bringing that in-store cage to the mass market?
