Armani Takes a Stance by Changing His Show Date

The normally affable Giorgio Armani was a little steamed when Anna Wintour missed his show in February. Like many editors and buyers, she used the last day of Milan Fashion Week as an en-route-to-Paris one, a practice which has caused plenty of tumult among Milanese designers. For his most recent RTW collection, Armani shifted his show ahead to accommodate those taking French leave, so to speak. But now, he’s moving his March défilé back to the original slot, on the last day, says Women’s Wear Daily. The move will help young labels, which tend to show on the last day and are hit hardest by the Paris exodus. Italian Fashion Chamber president Mario Boselli thanked the designer, saying the move showed “proof of great sensitivity and generosity towards the Italian fashion system.”
