The Trailer for the First Ever Joan Didion Documentary Is Here!

Today’s the day for your inner freshman-with-a-minor-in-creative-writing to pull out her well-worn copy of Slouching Towards Bethlehem. The trailer for We Tell Ourselves Stories in Order to Live, the first ever Joan Didion documentary, has arrived.

The doc, directed by Didion’s nephew Griffin Dunne and documentarian Susanne Rostock (and produced by Didion’s niece Annabelle Dunne), has all the goodies to satiate those who worship at the altar of Joan — interviews with people like Patti Smith and Bret Easton Ellis, never-before-seen footage, and interviews with Didion herself. Remember, the trailer also doubles as the ad for the Kickstarter campaign, which you might want to donate to — one of the rewards is the opportunity to send a fawning fangirl letter to Joan with the guarantee that she will read it and respond, unlike the fate of the other 400 letters you’ve sent.
