Rebecca Minkoff Is Introducing Wearable Tech

Earlier this week, it was reported that Rebecca Minkoff is letting her Instagram followers select the looks that will be shown in her upcoming New York Fashion Week show. But that won’t be Minkoff’s only technological innovation this season. She’s following in the footsteps of DVF, Ralph Lauren, and Tory Burch and debuting wearable tech, including a $120 bracelet that alerts the wearer to calls and texts, and a $60 cuff that charges mobile devices, Women’s Wear Daily reports. “We wanted to go after wearables in a different way,” CEO Uri Minkoff told the paper. “Health is covered [in the wearable space] but at the end of the day, our customer comes to us for fashion — and as we look at this fashion-function mix, it’s really where she’s living.” And unlike a lot of wearables out there, these don’t look like tech accessories, which Minkoff’s customers will surely appreciate.
