Grimes, a.k.a. Claire Boucher, just released a video for “Go,” her weird nymph-pop collaboration with Blood Diamond. The video is typical Grimes — a vaguely Game of Thrones–inspired journey through your worst acid trip. You might be baffled by the casual appearance of Adidas pool slides in several scenes — after all, Grimes is not at the gym or in another environment where foot fungus is a concern. But those who are familiar with normcore (fashion for 1 in 7 billion) will not be shocked.
In a statement to Pitchfork, Grimes explained that the video alludes to Dante’s Inferno. Makes sense: The fifth circle of hell would absolutely include people forced to wear Adidas pool slides with tights for all eternity.
