As the nation's largest metropolitan wildlife preserve, this world famous zoo boasts more than 6,000 animals across 600 species on its sprawling 265 acres of land—much of which has been transformed into unique habitats for zebras and other unique creatures. The Congo Gorilla Forest is particularly noteworthy: Home to two troops of Western lowland primates. Other highlights include daily sea lion feedings and bee-eating birds that catch their prey in mid-flight. Butterfly Garden

Nearly one acre in size, the Butterfly Garden is home to a greenhouse, sculptured gardens, and over 1,000 butterflies with free rein.
