Condi Rice Takes the Richard Nixon Approach to Torture

Oy. Former national security adviser/secretary of State Condoleezza Rice picked a pretty poor way to argue for the legality of waterboarding during an exchange with Stanford students recently, especially since we all just saw Frost/Nixon. "By definition, if it was authorized by the president, it did not violate our obligations under the Convention Against Torture," she argued, closely echoing Richard Nixon's infamous defense of Watergate: "When the president does it, that means it is not illegal."
