Lanvin Confirmed for H&M!
H&M's next designer collaboration will be with Lanvin on collections of womenswear and menswear hitting stores November 23, the chain announced overnight in a press release. Alber Elbaz will design the ladies' collection while Lucas Ossendrijver will design the men's. Elbaz said in May that he hadn't considered doing a fast-fashion collection, and last year said of mass-market collaborations: "I have a problem to do a collection that is a secondary line. I mean, you don't want to be the stepsister. You want to be Cinderella. Show me one girl who wants to be the stepsister."
In H&M's release, he explains:
"H&M approached us to collaborate, and see if we could translate the dream we created at Lanvin to a wider audience, not just a dress for less. I have said in the past that I would never do a mass-market collection, but what intrigued me was the idea of H&M going luxury rather than Lanvin going public."
Images of the line will debut November 2 in a short film on hm.com, while items will be available in about 200 H&M stores around the world. H&M's creative director, Margareta van den Bosch, said, "It is very much a Lanvin collection, using their cut and tailoring, with lots of focus on form and details for both women and men." The chain could not have landed a more coveted partnership. How excited are you? And how long would you wait in line for this?
