Industry Roundup: Dorff Takes On Gods, Cuoco Nabs Leading Role

Dorff Joins War: Stephen Dorff has been added to Tarsem Singh’s War of the Gods, joining a cast that already includes Kellan Lutz, Henry Cavill, Mickey Rourke and Freida Pinto. Dorff will play Stavros, a “master thief” who joins Theseus in his attempt to free Greece from the Titans. The film will begin shooting in early April in Montreal, a city that gets mistaken for Athens all the time. [Variety]

Cuoco Arrives With A Bang: The Big Bang Theory’s Kaley Cuoco will make the jump to the big screen, starring in the live-action/CG-animated comedy I Hop (no relation to the breakfast chain… we think). The story follows an unemployed slacker (James Marsden) who injures the Easter Bunny’s son (voiced by Russell Brand) and must help him recover. Cuoco will play Marsden’s sister, who lets her brother live with her when he gets kicked out by his parents. Hold up! We know that this is a kid’s movie about the Easter Bunny's son of all things and belief must be suspended, but how is a 36-year-old dude who looks like James Marsden unemployed and living at home?! Baywatch Gets Scribes: Screenwriters Brian Gatewood and Alessandro Tanaka are on board to write the screenplay for Paramount’s upcoming feature adaptation of Baywatch. The Hollywood Reporter cites insider reports that the studio is looking for a tone similar to that of the recent Charlie’s Angels remake. Which leads us to the obvious question: what the hell happened to Lucy Liu? [Risky Business/HR]

Distant Travels: Nas and Damian Marley, who are releasing a joint album, Distant Relatives, on May 18, are going to be touring together as well. They’ll be playing over 30 dates in the U.S. and Europe May through July, with the possibility of some shows in Africa tacked on as well. If you need added motivation to buy tickets, Nas could really use your money! [Pitchfork]

Chemical Reaction: The Chemical Brothers will release Further, their latest studio LP, on June 8. Each one of the album’s eight songs will get its own music video. Not to be outdone, Lady Gaga has announced every song on her next album will have a corresponding feature-length movie. [Pitchfork]

More Than Friends: Ryan Hansen (Veronica Mars) has joined the cast of NBC's Friends with Benefits, a series about five twenty-somethings who are filling time with their “friends with benefits.” Hansen will play Ben, an “Everyman” who, while on the lookout for the perfect girl, is happy to hook up with Sarah (Danneel Harris), a doctor looking for Mr. Right. Good luck with that, guys! We give you five months until you're either settling or signed up for OKCupid. [HR]

Turner Moves Behind Camera: Sheldon Turner, nominated for an Oscar for co-writing Up in the Air, will make his directing debut on By Virtue Fall, a thriller to be financed by producer Nicolas Chartier. The project revolves around a man who is framed by his mentor and ends up in prison - then looks to get revenge when he is released. Word of advice, Sheldon; if you see Chartier with a furrowed brow, furiously typing away on his Blackberry, you might want to step in and see what he's up to. [Variety]
